The Study Program of Management of the Faculty of Economics, Bung Hatta University held a Public Lecture of Learning Methods for a Case Study by inviting the speaker from Gadjah mada University, Amin Wibowo, Ph.D. This activity took place at the Economic Faculty Meeting Room Building 3 Block A Bung Hatta University Proclamator II Campus, Friday (02/23/2018).
The Head of committee, Purbo Jadmiko, SE, M.Sc , said that the general lecture aims to improve the quality of learning for each subject given to students so as to improve the quality of graduates. It is hoped that this, public lecture which is attended by all lecturers, can give the improvement of the implementation of learning methods in the classroom. Thus the quality of the lecturer in learning process is getting better and in accordance with current needs and can improve students' analytical skills in understanding conceptual and contextual.
In his opening remarks, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Bung Hatta University. Dr. Listiana Sri Mulatsih, SE., MM, mentioned that along with the implementation of the KBK-KKNI curriculum, the learning method must be better and improve its quality. This is to achieve learning outcomes from each subject in accordance with the needed competence. Of course it will have an impact lon students and the quality of graduates, she added. Amin Wibowo, Ph.D in his presentation began to explain the reality of learning methods, the form and use of case learning methods, teaching with cases, preparation of actors both lecturers and students to sample cases and application in class.
The speakers explained that The characteristics of case study learning emphasize situational analysis, the importance of connecting analysis and action from to know to know and to act. Student involvement and non-traditional teaching roles are needed. Not only teaching, but encouraging students to learn and not as a central figure, but looking for answers together. In addition, He explained the benefits of this case study method for real-world contexts, to explore many perspectives, to require critical thinking and analysis to provide students to synthesize the contents of various subjects. With this case the purpose of case learning is to combine theory and practice in the learning process, learning from experience allows transferring managerial wisdom into the classroom. Then to enable students to develop a sense of judgment, allowing them to understand business practices in an efficient manner, improve their communication skills to reach constructive thinking.
In improving the learning process, it is necessary to open and caring the process to improve the learning efficiency. Effective discussion requires class to be a lesson room. Then the patience of lecturers encourages student learning to the confidence of students in addition to mastering concepts and process skills which are essential elements of teaching, he said.
